Thurley showed its Resort Collection, for the first time in 10 years as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Carriageworks on May 15, 2018 in Sydney, Australia. Resort 2018, the newest collection of Thurley bring us a white night, where white was the undisputed protagonist. Helen Thurley O’Connor’s pieces are perfect for all the upcoming events on your social calendar. The crisp whites stood out beautifully and the patterns within each fabric were simply stunning. Hand-crafted fringing and tassels, lace and floral embroideries are inspired by Rome’s baroque design. Though crafted in range of colors, from coral and baby blue to black and white, we love the pink.
For many, this collection may not be anything special, but personally, I find it fascinating when the great designers create clothes that ordinary women could use. From cocktail dresses, suits for executives, and even for brides, this collection has everything.
A collection that knows how to enhance the femininity of today’s strong woman, waves, lace and transparencies playing in perfect harmony to highlight the feminine silhouette. Incredibly, none of the dresses looked overloaded.
Drawing inspiration from experiences of travel, culture and art, Helen injects Thurley with a strong sense of personality. Each season the collection features timeless pieces that are both modern and classic, specializing in eveningwear with a focus on masterfully embroidered dresses, extravagant outerwear and elegant gowns.
After receiving a scholarship awarded at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Helen O’Connor returned to Australia and established the Thurley label, a name carried in her family for generations. From humble beginnings Thurley has grown at great speed to become one of the most coveted labels in the country. O’Connor said the new collection is inspired by Peter Weir’s iconic 1975 movie Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Thurley has a strong ethos of true craftsmanship and there is a beautiful story behind every garment. Now presents an entirely new addition to the brand with the introduction of luxurious daywear, wardrobe essentials and accessories available in its flagship Armadale store and exclusively in David Jones stores nationwide.
In the front row, attended at the event, special guests such as Laura Dundovic, Sam Frost, Michael Klim, Ellie Gonsalves and Liesel Jones whom arrive before the Thurley show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Resort 18-19 Collections at Carriageworks on May 15, 2018 in Sydney, Australia.
