This year, the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week counted with the participation of 28 most important bridal fashion houses worldwide. One by one they have paraded down the catwalk showing how they know how to do best, the creations they have prepared in their ateliers to teach us who will have our eyes on them, that it is not just about fashion; the details, the inspiration, the fabrics, the cuts, make each piece special, because they were designed for a woman who only wants to look splendid and feel special on the day she will give her “yes, I accept”.
This time, it was the turn of Sonia Peña, who brought us her Studio Collection 54, inspired by disco music’s flashing lights and by the 1970s jet set, the designs radiate New York’s brilliance, colour and energy. The material’s elasticity, lace, fringes and romantic floral patterns mix with the sensuality of the daring feathers and see-through elements.
A certain retro air, like an ode to the most innovative artistic trends of this period. Burst of color and geometries in risky proportions surprise us on the catwalk. Simple and elegant dresses with highly feminine details are the mainstay of the collection this year. Each season, Sonia presents a variety of silhouettes in different lengths, made with materials such as chiffon, satin or crepe.
The definition of the body through strategic cuts in the pieces gives identity to the firm, making the best use of femininity in fashion. Volumes and mix of classic fabrics with some more technological. Lúrex and paillettes, a cyclical trend, create movement as well as a great visual effect. From dark tones, to combinations in lighted colors, through metallized in combination with other tones.
Light and airy dresses have also given way to tight and sensual designs like this mini asymmetrical neckline dress in white with floral details embroidered and applied in black. Fringes have undoubtedly been one of the main protagonists of the Studio 54 collection and we have seen them applied to cuffs, sleeves, waistlines and skirts, providing the ideal movement to not stop dancing!
For the next season, the great natural motifs and strong colors triumph and in the Sonia Peña 2019 collection we see it in several designs along with bodies of subtle lace transparencies.
Sonia Peña’s success is down to the attention to detail that the design team pays to every detail from the material and the cut, to the quality of the design. With modest and classic designs, Sonia Peña’s designs attract sophisticated women who want both style and elegance in the same dress. The collection has designs that are for any kind of special occasion: The mother of the bride or the groom, guests, bridesmaids, cocktail dresses, or even for an elegant night out on town.
Lights and disco music have marked each step of the models that have paraded on the catwalk of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2018 to present the designs of the Sonia Peña 2019 collection. Under the title Studio 54 we have enjoyed elegant dresses made with the best fabrics in gauze, satin or crepe.
