Adidas collection. The dream of the millenials

Daniëlle Cathari has presented us one of the most desired collections of the season, the designer has taken the most iconic garments of the Adidas firm and has deconstructed them completely. The result is the ecstasy of the millennials, with a creative of only 23 years and sporty style inspired by the very Kendall Jenner. A very graphic and ninth athleisure luxury, defended by an army of top models that have taken it to the top. Yes, this is the most modern and sticky adidas outfit.

A year ago, Daniëlle Cathari, rose to fame as a fashion student, when the she designed a collection of reconstructed vintage tracksuits for a class project at the Amsterdam Fashion Institution. The sports brand, instead of denouncing it, fell in love with its proposals and proposed to work together. The result is this collaboration, which perfectly blends the vintage Adidas Original and Adicolor and the modernism of collage and patchwork.

The inspiration behind this capsule collection is the very Kendall Jenner, who actively participated in the development of the garments. “Kendall is someone who is not afraid to express her individuality and I respect that, I see a lot of my style in the way she mixes clothes and I love her sense of contrast, we have similar creative visions and similar personal style approaches. It has seemed work, rather spend time with a friend and chat about all the things we like, which in this case is fashionable” said the designer about the top model.

Her presentation during New York Fashion Week, fitted perfectly with the aesthetics of both parties: the designer and the firm. It has fused the relax of the tracksuit with a primary and very striking color palette, which includes all the shades of the rainbow: red, blue, yellow, orange, green, white, black and even a neutral tone like camel. All accompanied by a world-class girl squad millennial, with models like Hailey Baldwin, Kendall Jenner or Roos Ferrero on swings and scaffolding. At last a fresh, new and different vision of the iconic Adidas tracksuit, with its three stripes always present.

The emergent designer has presented a well cut, sporty collection which fuses relaxed wear with everyday staples. The vibrant colors palet features almost every color in the rainbow. Cathari’s Spring 2018 collection for Adidas continued her work in the field of reimagining the classic tracksuit. The reworked range includes full-length track pants, bra tops, long-sleeved cut-out shirts and track jackets. The sharp striped accents on the pieces are eye-catching and pair seamlessly with the adidas originals branding which is seen throughout the whole collection.

“The assignment was to create three looks that best represented your signature,” said Cathari. “I already knew I wanted to do something with the tracksuit. I’ve always been into them, particularly the iconic Adidas one. I bought a bunch of vintage pieces and cut them apart to really reimagine the tracksuit, and deconstructed to become more feminine items.”

Cathari stated “It’s really a mix, 50 percent of the adidas DNA, 50 percent of my DNA. I did integrate, as a starting point the classic Nineties three-stripe details and snap buttons. Next to that I added my signature, which is reimagining classics like deconstruction elements and workin with contrasts”
