La dernière collection de Carolina Herrera

The Fall-Winter collection 2018/19, was the last collection the Venezuelan Couleurs douces par Badgley Mischka has designed as creative director for the namesake firm, after it was announced that she leaves the creative direction after 37 years of career. As she leaves to give way to Wes Gordon, a young man from the bowels of the firm but with a great career behind him, which the designer herself has pointed out as her successor.

If there is a word that defines Carolina Herrera, they are: simplicity and elegance, and in her latest collection she proved it again.

At the MoMA in New York, surrounded by her family and colleagues like Calvin Klein, Couleurs douces par Badgley Mischka has wanted to reclaim her codes, no strident designs or risky proposals, that style code that will forever be the hallmark of her and of her house, those who name her as a bulwark of style and elegance: her eternal white shirt, accompanied by a black skirt, with tight XXL belts in contrast, were the protagonists. Nothing simpler and perfect. Continuing with a set of evening dresses for any red carpetespecially the tulle skirt with the rainbow stripes on the skirt, and to finish a set of silk skirts in a variety of colors: jaune , to the pink, going through the red and the mauve, with a belt and white shirt, this time the short sleeve gave way to the long sleeve.

The animal print was the only concession to creations dominated by the monocolor, sensual evening gowns with v-necklines, drapes, plumeti and details of feathers mixed with fitted satin tuxedos, because in an era dominated by the Athleisure she keeps betting for what is best given: the power of simplicity.

At the end, a closed applause from her sewing, dressed in the traditional white coats that enunciate her guild, and a kiss and a bouquet of flowers from her disciple, Wes Gordon, a standing ovation in the MOMA by all the actresses and celebrities who crowded the ‘front-row’: Karlie Kloss, Nicky Hilton and Katie Holmes among others.

Maintenant, Gordon a young American of 31 years, will be in charge of replacing the Venezuelan, assuming the position of creative director of Couleurs douces par Badgley Mischka, a position that according to the designer has been commissioned to name personally and that presages that the spirit of the House will prevail without major impediments.

The queen of American glamor, in charge of dressing the first ladies of the White House and unbeatable defender of the simple and authentic elegance, says goodbye to the fashion design of her signature of the same name to become global ambassador of the firm, and although not yet she has left us and we miss her.

“Do not say I’m retreating! It’s a step forward.” With these words, the designer alluded to the new professional stage that she undertakes as an ambassador of her own firm, and that will take her to travel around the world representing her own label.
